Villa Rica’s First Annual Tour of Homes – Holiday Edition
Have you ever wanted to see inside some of Villa Rica’s historic structures and private homes? Well, now’s your chance! Mark your calendars for Villa Rica’s first annual “Tour of Homes” scheduled for Saturday, December 7, from 4p – 8p. Tickets are only $15 to tour all four locations. You may purchase tickets on this PayPal button, on Facebook and at the Main Street office at 106 Temple Street (beside the amphitheater stage).
The Powell House
The historic Powell House is not the oldest structure in Villa Rica, but since its construction in 1928, it has been one of the most recognizable homes in the city. Located at the intersection of Westview Drive and South Dogwood Street, the Powell House stands like a Beacon atop a wooded hill.
The C.M. Griffin House
This historic home burned in 1902 and was rebuilt in 1904 by the owner, C.M. Griffin, Sr. Mr. Griffin was a merchant who owned a cotton gin and hosiery mill in the Fullerville area of Villa Rica. He was the mayor of Villa Rica at one time.
The McLeod Home Place
Dr. Hart built this home in 1824. It was a cotton farm and consisted of 1,550 acres. Currently, there are only 16 acres that include the home, the carriage house, 2 large barns and a wood shed.
First Presbyterian Church
What began in local homes in 1855 with 14 members, continues today as a growing church proud to be a part of historic Downtown Villa Rica.
